A new photo shoot from Buzzfeed proves plus-size women are just as sexy as Playboy cover girls.
The popular men’s magazine has featured many models and celebrities over the years, but very rarely promoted plus-size models. As Buzzfeed claims, the closest Playboy ever came to promoting larger women is model and actress Anna Nicole Smith.
Hugh Hefner’s brainchild decided to stop showing full frontal nudity in March 2016, but changed their minds in February 2017. “I’ll be the first to admit that the way in which the magazine portrayed nudity was dated, but removing it entirely was a mistake,” Playboy CCO Cooper Hefner said on Instagram. “Nudity was never the problem because nudity isn’t a problem. Today we’re taking our identity back and reclaiming who we are.”
In light of the news, Buzzfeed recreated five famous Playboy covers with a quintet of beautiful ladies. The social news and entertainment company empowered these five women and here are some of the results. Sheridan, for example, reflected on her interpretation of Kate Moss’ iconic cover photo. “There’s no limit to what can be sexy, and underneath ALL our perfect bodies, perfect boobs, perfect cheekbones, is a creepy skeleton holding us all together,” she explained.
Meanwhile, Abia tackled Carmen Electra’s sexy guitar pose. “This experience was very fun — it was way out of my comfort zone, yet something I’ve always wanted to do,” Abia reflected. “As a ‘bigger’ woman, society has made me feel like I do not have a right to feel sexy or that because we have curves, we can ONLY be considered as sexual objects. I really think this helped me find the balance of confidence and sexy all in one.”
