“Modern Family” star Rico Rodriguez paid tribute to his late father Roy on Sunday, March 19.
The ABC sitcom star, 18, shared the sad news in an Instagram post. He described his dad as a real life superhero. “This has been the toughest week of my life,” Rodriguez wrote. “My Dad was the most kind-hearted, loving, hard working, determined, and funny man I have ever known.”

“He was like a super hero, he had the ability to get the best out of you day in and day out,” he continued. “I’m gonna miss your hugs. I’m gonna miss your advice. I’m gonna miss your smile, and I’m gonna miss your laugh.”
The young star capped off his tribute with a touching message. “I know you’re looking down at us right now giving us the green light to move forward. I miss you Daddy. I’ll love you forever – Your youngest.”
Rodriguez’s “Modern Family” co-star Sofia Vergara shared her love and sympathy for Rico on Twitter.

Roy is survived by his wife, Diane, and his kids, Rico, Raini, Roy Jr. and Ray.
Rico’s sister Raini, who has starred in several Disney movies, shared her own loving tribute to her late dad.
