Scarlett Johansson is standing up for herself after filing for divorce from her husband, Romain Dauriac.

In an interview with the UK’s “Lorraine” on Thursday to promote her new film “Ghost in the Shell”, the 32-year-old actress appeared to respond to her former partner’s claim that he was “tired” of being the “primary parent” to their two-year-old daughter, Rose.

“I’m so proud to do a job that I love to do and that I’ve worked really hard at to get where I am,” Johansson said. “To be able to show my daughter that and have her come to the workplace and see that her mom is an independent woman and making it happen is really important for me.”

Following Johansson’s divorce filing in early March after less than two years of marriage, Dauriac’s lawyer, Hal Mayerson, told The Associated Press, “Mr. Dauriac is tired of having to run his life and his child’s based on Ms. Johansson’s shooting schedule.”

Johansson filed for divorce from Dauriac in a New York City court on March 7, with her attorney, Judith Poller, citing that the marriage was “irretrievably broken.” She is asking Dauriac for joint custody, with their daughter to live with Johansson. However, Dauriac reportedly plans to petition the court, wanting their daughter to live with him in his homeland France.
