Emma Thompson reveals that President of the United States Donald Trump once asked her out.

“I was doing a film called ‘Primary Colors’ with John Travolta in Hollywood and I was in my trailer and it was on the Universal lot,” Thompson explains during an interview with Swedish news outlet SVT.

“I had just been divorced and my decree absolute has just come through, like, the day before,” she says. “So the phone rings in my trailer, which it has never done before. I look at it and it’s, like, weird. It’s like a moose has just entered my trailer.

“I lift up the phone. ‘Hi, it’s Donald Trump here.’ I said, ‘Really? Can I help you?’ and he said, ‘Yeah, I just you know, I wondered if I could offer you some accommodation in one of my Trump Towers. They’re really comfortable.'”

After Donald’s confusing accommodation offer, his goal became very clear.

“‘Well, you know, I think we would get on very well,'” Trump continued. “‘Maybe we could have dinner sometime,'” Thompson recounts.

The actress reacted in the only way humanly possible: “I didn’t know what to do with myself. I was absolutely… I was on my own, and I just said, ‘Okay, well I’ll get back to you! Thank you so much for ringing.'”

After stating that she had “never met [President Trump] before,” Thompson admits that as much as she didn’t opt to go on a date with the then-business tycoon, she kind of regrets the decision.

“Think of the stories!” Emma declares, to which one of the presenters replies, “You could be the First Lady!” and “You could have stopped him!”
