Penny Lancaster has revealed to a U.K. newspaper that she and her music legend husband Rod Stewart found themselves in a frightening car accident not too long ago.
“It was a few months ago and a nasty one: a head-on collision. Rod’s assistant, who was driving, injured his hand and my dad, bless him, was in the back seat,”; said Penny when speaking with The Telegraph. “He suffered more than Rod. He dislocated his shoulder and elbow and probably won’t be able to straighten his arm again.”;
The accident occurred in London while the party was heading to the airport. Penny says the other driver was travelling on the wrong side of the road.
“Rod was okay, thank God, apart from the broken finger,”; shared the model/photographer. “We’re all just so grateful because it could have been 10 times worse.”;
Penny praised her husband’s bravery in the face of the harrowing ordeal.
“It was pretty frightful but Rod managed to climb out of the vehicle, which was a total right-off. Then after an ambulance was called, he climbed into another car that was following them, made the flight and did his show,”; she said. “Not many people could do that: I think it was the adrenalin that kept him going.”;
