When it came time for Stephen Hawking to revamp his signature voice, some of Hollywood’s biggest stars jumped at the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to audition for the role.
“Stephen it’s me, surely it has to be me. It’s deep, it’s sexy. It’s got a tinge of physics,” Liam Neeson says in the Comic Relief sketch.
“I am the obvious choice,” Anna Kendrick says as her turn rolls around. “I’m intelligent kind of and I’m young and cool, kind of.”
The parody video captures Hawking watching along as the audition tapes of stars such as Rebel Wilson, Gordon Ramsay, Eddie Redmayne, Miss Piggy, Geri Halliwell, and Apple’s Siri play on.
“I’ve heard on the grapevine that a bunch of f***wits are trying to get you to pick them as your voice. C’mon, who better — soothing calming voice than I’ve got,” Ramsay pleaded aggressively.
Redmayne, who played the scientist in “The Theory of Everything”, meanwhile, cringed when the opportunity was presented to him. “So what is it, like a sequel?” he asked. “If they want me to go through that again, they’re going to have to pay me a sh** load of cash…The man literally has one topic of conversation — black holes…stars getting rampantly excited and the only star I care about is [me].”
See who finally nabbed the big role in the video above.
