What is the most talked-about show on social media during any given week?
We won’t have to wonder about that anymore, now that The Hollywood Reporter and Facebook have teamed up to bring us the TV Obsession Index, described as “a weekly ranking of the 10 most talked-about shows on Facebook,”; with rankings determined by “what percentage of Facebook chatter about TV mentions a specific show”;
“Facebook is at the center of the TV conversation as we all share, comment and like our way through a great season premiere or a crazy series plot twist,” says Janice Min, co-president and chief creative officer of Guggenheim Media’s Entertainment Group, which includes The Hollywood Reporter. “With the launch of the TV Obsession Index, The Hollywood Reporter will offer fans the most incisive look into the data to reveal which shows, newcomers and talent are driving the most chatter and engagement.”;
This week’s TV Obsession Index indicates that the midseason finale of The Walking Dead dominated Facebook, making up more than 14 per cent of all the past week’s television conversations.
The TV Obsession Index will appear weekly each Wednesday at THR.com.
