Expect plenty of “twists and surprises” in the next “Transformers” movie.
ET Canada’s Matte Babel caught up with Mark Wahlberg at Paramount’s CinemaCon presentation in Las Vegas, where the studio unveiled a 15-minute sneak peek at this summer’s “Transformers: The Last Knight”.
“It’s a lot of focus on the origin story and it’s basically like a big adventure,” the actor teases. “I’ve now decided to go on the run in order to protect my daughter and give her a normal life. Then I get thrust into this world with Anthony Hopkins and Laura Haddock’s character.”
“Without giving too many things away, there’s a lot of great twists and surprises in the movie,” he adds.
For Wahlberg, the decision to return to the blockbuster franchise was an easy one, thanks to his close relationship with director Michael Bay. He says, “The first time I committed to making a ‘Transformers’ movie, I never even read the script. I just wanted to work with Michael again after ‘Pain & Gain’.”
As for Hopkins, who’s new to the franchise for its fifth installment, he says Bay is the whole reason he joined the project. “[My agent] said, ‘Would you like to work with Michael Bay?’ I said, ‘Yeah,'” he explains. “He’s a great director. He’s a real genius and passionate.”
