Mariah Carey Takes Heat For Botched Rockefeller Center Performance

By Steven Shehori, .

Let’s call it Mariah Carey’s Series of Unfortunate Events.

Here’s the timeline: on Tuesday night, Mariah was slated to sing All I Want For Christmas is You at Rockefeller Center. The taped performance would then be broadcast the following evening as part of NBC’s annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony. Alas, the song was cancelled after the pop legend turned up nearly three hours late.

The reason? Well, it depends on who you ask. E! News says Mariah showed up, but refused to leave her car due to the rain. Meanwhile, TMZ claims the Grammy winner arrived late because she was finalizing her divorce settlement.

After news broke of her no-show, Mariah took to Twitter with an apology.

The drama was far from over, however. Despite NBC “s alleged frustrations, the network re-booked Mariah for the gig. With one caveat: she’d perform the song live (!) on Wednesday, the night of the broadcast. Mariah agreed, but the ending was far from happy.
