Taylor Swift & Pharrell Lay Claim To 2014’s Top Selling iTunes Offerings

Taylor Swift and Pharrell are your 2014 Canadian iTunes year-end chart champs.

Apple has revealed that Taylor Swift’s 1989 was this year’s album sales juggernaut, racking up more copies downloaded than any other full-length this year despite being released at the tail end of October. Runners-up to Taylor in the Canadian Top 5 include the soundtrack to Frozen, Coldplay’s Ghost Stories, Ed Sheeran’s x and Beyoncé’s self-titled album.

In addition to silver medalling the iTunes album rankings, Frozen was crowned 2014’s best-selling movie. The very non-Disney-y Game of Thrones emerged as this year’s bestselling TV show.

Pharrell’s “Happy”; reigned supreme when it came to song sales on iTunes. Trailing the infectious ode to joy in the Canuck Top 5 were John Legend (“All of Me”;), Katy Perry (“Dark Horse”;), Christina Aguilera & A Great Big World (“Say Something”;) and Iggy Azalea (“Fancy”;).
