Ryan Seacrest continues to win over the hearts of millions with his latest heartwarming move.
The host recently took care of a caller’s $8,000 veterinarian bill after the dog’s owner called in to his “Tell Me Something Good” radio segment describing her rescue dog Romeo’s injuries. After telling listeners about the two ruptured ligaments in his hind legs, and his developing arthritis, the owner revealed she was given two frightening options: to amputate, or pay the large bill in order to fix the problem.
A deeply saddened Seacrest made her decision as easy as possible, and revealed he would gladly cover the procedure’s fee.
“I really kind of isolated myself from the world at one point, and he kind of helped me get out of that,” she recalled to Seacrest. “One day I was watching a TV show and I saw an animal cruelty [commercial] … I was feeling down that week and I looked online and I saw these dogs needed to be rescued. When we got [Romeo], he was very emaciated and he was three weeks old. So we took him in and we bottle fed him.”
The first of two operations took place earlier this month on March 13. While recovering from the operation this week, Romeo and his owner stopped by Seacrest’s studio to meet the generous star in person, and of course, documented the meet-and-greet for all of Instagram to see. “I finally got to meet Romeo and his mom Mercedes after they called the show a while back and broke my heart with their story,” he captioned a photo with Romeo. “I had to help out Romeo with a couple leg surgeries he really needed… now he’s recovering well from the first operation and has one more to go. Good luck champ.”
Romeo undergoes his second surgery in May. Follow his road to recovery through his adorable Instagram feed.
