‘Modern Family’ Star Eric Stonestreet Talks Uncertain Status Of Hit TV Show: ‘I Might Be Needing A Job’

By Shakiel Mahjouri.

“Modern Family” star Eric Stonestreet says the status of the show’s ninth season is in “limbo”, but not before falling victim to another Ellen DeGeneres prank.

Stonestreet, 45, has the unfortunate reputation of being one of DeGeneres’s favourite prank victims. While preparing backstage for his interview on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show”, the actor was greeted by a frightening clown in a box. The spooked celebrity responded, unsurprisingly, with a loud expletive.

Onstage, DeGeneres asked her fellow LGBTQ supporter about the lack of contracts presented to Stonestreet and the rest of the “Modern Family” cast. “I understand no one has contracts, so either y’all are gonna make a sweet deal or you’re not coming back for a ninth season,” the talk show host explained.

“We’re right in the middle of it,” Stonestreet replied. “And I think everyone has a very positive attitude and my gut instinct is that we’re going to be coming back to do more. I think everyone wants to do more.”

“But it’s kind of a limbo time for sure… I might be needing a job,” he exclaimed before admitting, “I’d like to take Andy’s job please.”
