It’s about to get real for the ladies of Litchfield Prison in season five of “Orange Is The New Black.”
Taking place in real-time over the course of three days, the upcoming season of “Orange Is The New Black” picks up moments immediately following season four’s cliffhanger ending. Now, Netflix has released a heart-stopping first look at the premiere episode, hitting the streaming channel on June 9.
In the sneak peek, a determined Daya (Dascha Polanco) finds herself holding a gun at C.O. Humphrey (Michael Torpey) at the centre of a riot, spurred on by the death of Poussey (Samira Wiley). As the tables are turned on the prison guards the inmates take control of the prison. It’s bad news for buds Piper and Alex.
“We’re laying low and staying out of trouble,” Piper (Taylor Schilling) says to Alex (Laura Prepon), rounding the corner on the rioting prisoners.
Kicking off season five, the first 60 seconds of the premiere episode set the course for the rest of the season, making it clear life in Litchfield will never be the same.
