Cosmopolitan Under Fire For Article Comparing Cancer To Weight Loss Diet

Cosmopolitan is getting some heat for publishing an article about a woman’s 44-pound weight loss that didn’t require any exercise.

How did she lose the weight? The woman had cancer. While the article explains that Simone Harbinson, an Australian mother of two, changed her diet after the cancer diagnosis, the headline was misleading. The original headline implied this was an article with quick fixes for losing weight.

The magazine came under fire for a misleading and now deleted tweet about the article that read: “How This Woman Lost 44 Pounds Without ANY Exercise.” Twitter did not take kindly to the click bait headline and called out the magazine:

The publication later changed the headline of the article to, “A Serious Health Scare Helped Me Love My Body More Than Ever,” after the backlash.

Cosmopolitan has yet to respond to the reaction.
