Fatherhood has changed Ricky Martin for the better.
The singer sits down with “CBS Sunday Morning” host Tracy Smith this Sunday and dishes on what life is like now that he’s a father. Martin, who is the father of 9-year-old twin boys Matteo and Valentino, says it’s not about him anymore.
“No, definitely the decisions that… I make today, even for my career, are based on the wellbeing of my children,” Martin says. “It’s not about you anymore. Every decision that I make, it’s based on them,” he reveals to Smith.
What else has changed? “There’s no more sleeping late,” he jokes. But this is only the beginning for the singer. “I want a big family. I like the noise of children running around the house. I want Daddy’s little girl.”
Martin is gearing up for his upcoming Las Vegas residency and he says it’s a fulfilling musical experience. “The artist just walks on stage ready for fire,” he reveals. “I’m talking about me, me as an artist. I don’t settle for little things.”
“I’m addicted, yes. I am. I am hooked on this,” Martin says about his love of performing. “It forces me to – to analyze my emotions – because that’s what the audience wants. The audience wants you to be transparent, to be real, to be honest. And even when I had to hide things about my persona on stage, I wasn’t. On stage, I was just completely open,” he says.
