Looks like Renee Zellweger has another celebrity defender against the intense media scrutiny she received when she stepped out looking almost unrecognizable in October.

In a new interview with British InStyle, Naomi Watts  who was recently nominated for a SAG Award for her performance in St. Vincent — comments on the headline-making plastic surgery rumors surrounding the Bridget Jones’ Diary star.

“[The backlash] was cruel and unnecessary,”; she tells the magazine (via E! News). “I saw a picture and I thought she looked great! She looked amazing! Leave her alone! You can’t win can you?”;

But Naomi, 46, understands the choice to get plastic surgery.

“I don’t have any judgment about [plastic surgery]; whoever makes that choice, that’s fine,”; she says. “It’s not easy watching yourself get older, but when I look at two women in their fifties or sixties or seventies side by side, one who’s had surgery and one who hasn’t, I think one likes themselves a lot more and one looks more dignified and graceful.”;

Though, Naomi herself doesn’t rule out the possibility of going under the knife someday.

“I hope I get to stay being that woman,”; she adds, regarding her current thoughts on aging gracefully. “But I would never say “never.'”;

In November, Reese Witherspoon also blasted Renee’s haters at The Hollywood Reporter“s actress roundtable.

“It’s horrible,”; Reese, 38, said bluntly about her fellow Oscar winner’s treatment. “It’s cruel and rude and disrespectful, and I can go on and on and on. It bothers me immensely.”;
