Mel B is hitting back at rumours that husband Stephen Belafonte beat her up after the former Spice Girl missed an episode on the U.K.’s X Factor and then showed up at the finale with apparent bruises on her face and arms — without wearing her wedding ring.
While Mel’s absence was explained by an undisclosed illness, the rumour mill went into overdrive, with U.K. newspaper The Sun added fuel to the fire by subsequently reporting that Mel left the London home she shared with Stephen, claiming luggage and boxes were removed from the home on Dec. 15.
In fact, Us Weekly reported that Belafonte denied the allegations that he beat Mel, calling them “disgusting”; and “untrue”; on Twitter.
Meanwhile, Mel’s sister, Danielle Brown, issued a series of tweets in which she theatened to go to the press with “abusive”; phone calls made by Mel’s husband unless she and her mother were able to contact the singer and find out the truth behind her mystery illness.
But now Mel is flat out denying there’s anything wrong with her relationship, and took to Instagram to post a photo of the two together and assure fans “my hubby never would lay a hand on me,”; adding, “sorry took so long but any response fuels rumors #lovemyfamily #lovemyfans”
