The stars aren’t holding back their thoughts on Bill O’Reilly after he was fired from Fox News amid sexual assault claims. And Lena Dunham and Jessica Chastain are no different, slamming the news anchor at Variety’s Women of Power Event in New York City.
Dunham honoured Gretchen Carlson who was the first woman to come forward to talk about the sexual harassment at Fox News, “I’m in the very privileged position to be able to say whatever the f**k I want most of the time,” the “Girls” star started.
“But when you work in a corporate infrastructure the challenge of coming out about sexual harassment is so massive. And to see a woman who surmounted that and bravely made space for other women to do the same is deeply inspired,” she added.
Dunham went on to take a few more jabs at O’Reilly, “We also should’ve known a few years ago about Bill O’Reilly when he confused a loofah with a falafel. So this isn’t fresh info.”
But when Chastain spoke, she left left O’Reilly’s name out of it and still confronted the issue, “Most recently women said ‘No’ to a certain Fox News anchor. After year of sexual accusations and settlement were unearthed, women’s rights groups called for the advertisers to pull their support from the show and companies listened. And so did Fox.”
“As a result the 8 o’clock news hour will be known simply as ‘The Factor’. This is our collective power in action,” “The Zookeeper’s Wife” star finished.
Both women spoke to other “Women in Power” including; Salma Hayek, Chelsea Clinton, Ashley Graham, Gayle King and more.
