‘Star Wars: Expisode IX’ And ‘Frozen’ Sequel Get 2019 Release Dates

The Walt Disney Company has gone on a release date rampage.

Included in the long list of anticipated projects is “Star Wars: Episode IX”, which is set to hit theatres May 24, 2019. As well, the previously announced “untitled animation title” project set for Nov. 27, 2019, is actually the sequel to “Frozen”.

Following the success of “The Jungle Book”, the live-action “The Lion King” is slated for July 19, 2019.

The studio also released news surrounding the fifth “Indian Jones” film, which was pushed back from July 19, 2019 to July 10, 2020. Both Steven Spielberg, who directed every other film in the franchise, and Harrison Ford will return.

Disney’s animated musical based on the fairytale Jack and the Beanstalk, “Gigantic” was moved from the Thanksgiving spot in 2018 to Nov. 25, 2020. Finding a home in 2018 is the “Wreck-It Ralph” sequel, which will be taking “Gigantic”‘s spot Nov. 21, 2018.

Ava DuVernay’s “A Wrinkle In Time” is being pulled from its original date, Apr. 6, 2018 to an earlier release of Mar. 9, 2018.

Other Disney titles that are still on schedule include “Toy Story 4”, hitting theatres June 21, 2019, alongside Marvel’s “Captain Marvel”on Aug. 3 that same year.

For their other untitled films, the studio announced the following:

Untitled Live-Action Fairy Tale film, previously dated on July 28, 2017 moves to Aug. 3, 2018
Untitled Live-Action for Aug. 9, 2019
Untitled Live Action for April 3, 2020
Untitled Marvel which was on July 10, 2020 moves to Aug. 7, 2020
Untitled Disney Animation (3D) moves from Nov. 25, 2020 moves to Nov. 24, 2021
Untitled Disney Live Action set for March 12, 2021
Untitled Pixar Animation (3D) set for June 18, 2021
