While being honoured at the Time 100 gala as one of the most influential people in the world, singer John Legend took the opportunity to speak out against President Donald Trump.
While on the red carpet at the event, Legend shared his feelings on POTUS. “I think he’s a terrible president,” Legend told reporters. “He’s manifestly unqualified, not curious, not good at legislating or doing anything that his job requires.”
Legend, who pulled double duty at the event by performing for the guests, credits his wife, Chrissy Teigen, and artists Stevie Wonder and Marvin Gaye for helping to make him the man he is. Regarding Trump, the singer had considerably less flattering words.
“He doesn’t have any depth about any subject and he’s also using the office of the presidency as a way to make money for himself with his business, so he’s corrupt,” he said. “I can’t say anything nice about the guy. I think he’s one of the worst people I’ve ever encountered in public life.”
Legend was then asked what Trump’s least offensive act as president has been so far. “We haven’t gotten in a nuclear war…yet,” he joked.
