Keshia Chante is spilling the tea on her upcoming wedding to former NHL goalie Ray Emery this summer.
ET Canada caught up exclusively with the Juno winner at the luxurious Royalton St. Lucia Resort and Spa in the Caribbean, where she opened up about preparing to tie the knot and getting ready to release new music to her fans after five long years.
“It will be a Canadian wedding,” Chante says of the couple’s upcoming nuptials, which will take place in front of a star-studded guest list this June. “For me, I like to keep my private life private, but at the same time [people are] like, ‘Oh, I can’t wait for you to get married or I want to see these pictures or what kind of dress are you wearing?’ You want to share things with people.”
While the 28-year-old singer plays coy on some of the details, Chante discloses to ET Canada that she will be walking down the aisle in a stunning $10,000 Zuhair Murad gown fresh off the runway. “It’s gorgeous!” the Canadian-born beauty reveals.
In addition to wedding plans, the chart-topping artist, who recently scored a spot on season two of “Hockey Wives”, says she’s ready to make a comeback with her new EP, “Unbound 01”. “It’s a passion project for me,” she explains. “I’m very honest. I’m making music that I want to listen to. I’m making music that I actually listen to.”
Chante reveals that her new sound will shed her past “good girl” image, admitting that some of the songs have even made her father “a little uncomfortable.” She says, “I feel like this is the first time that I’m able to really give people exactly who I am, and I’m feeling really confident and comfortable in it.”
