“I’m a Flirt” singer R. Kelly stayed true to his song, at least that’s what a Mississippi sheriff’s deputy says.
Deputy Kenneth Bryant is suing R&B singer R. Kelly for allegedly having a years-long affair with Bryant’s wife. Bryant and Asia Childress were married in 2012. The lawsuit, filed in a county circuit court in Jackson, allegedly includes images of texts Bryant says Childress and Kelly exchanged.
Anna Powers, a lawyer for Bryant, said Bryant knew Childress had previously had a relationship with Kelly before marrying the sheriff’s deputy. “That was water under the bridge, over and done,” Powers said according to Stereo Gum. “Our client loved his wife, wanted to work out his relationship.”
But Bryant is accusing Childress and Kelly of rekindling their relationship after she attended one of the “Ignition” singer’s shows in 2012. “Each time R. Kelly would have a concert in a nearby state, Childress would disappear to unite with her lover,” the lawsuit states. “Time after time, R. Kelly cuckolded Bryant, with blatant disregard for Bryant’s and Childress’ vows.”
Mississippi is one of the few American states that allow spouses to sue others for breaking up their marriages. “R Kelly’s wanton and reckless interference with plaintiff’s marriage relationship, his blatant disregard for family values, and his un-condoned and unrelenting adulterous relationship with plaintiff’s wife was accompanied by R. Kelly’s enticement of Childress to ignore her marriage,” the suit reads.
Kelly is currently on tour to promote his album “The Buffet”.
