ET Canada’s got your first look at the full trailer for Marvel’s “The Defenders” and it’s hinting at what the fab foursome have been up to.
The trailer opens with a handcuffed Jessica Jones who is being interrogated by none other than Harlem’s finest, Misty Knight. Before we can really get to the bottom of which “lead” Jessica was “trying to help,” aka “probably killed,” Matthew Murdoch strides in, claiming to be her lawyer.
As for the other half of this unlikely bunch, Luke Cage has been released from Seagate Federal Penitentiary (but not before breaking his own shackles with chuckle) and is set up with Iron Fist in a Marvel meet-cute. The pair square off in superpowers as fans get a taste of the relationship between Harlem’s friendly bulletproof giant and the immortal defender of the mythical city of K’un-Lun.
“I’m the immortal Iron Fist,” Rand says, to which Cage quips back in his signature tone “you’re what?!”
The rest of the trailer sets up the plot for the first season with glimpses of Electra (back from the dead?) and new big bad Alexandra, played by Sigourney Weaver, all to the tune of Nirvana’s “Come As You Are” with a narration from Daredevil’s master himself, Stick.
“The more connections you have, the easier it will be to break you,” Alexandra claims, before the four showdown in what looks like the prelude to the elevator teaser.
Jessica Henwick’s Colleen Wing and Rosario Dawson’s Claire Temple feature in the trailer as well, but we still haven’t seen anything from other series fan favourites like: Deborah Ann-Woll, Elden Henson, Carrie-Anne Moss, Rachel Taylor or Jon Bernthal.
“The Defenders” is ready for streaming August 18, 2017 on Netflix.
