Matthew McConaughey And Idris Elba Have Fun Tweet Exchange Over Newly Released ‘Dark Tower’ Footage

Co-stars Matthew McConaughey and Idris Elba are getting hyped on Twitter as new footage from their upcoming movie “Dark Tower” drops online.

The pair of actors will face off in the highly-anticipated Stephen King adaptation as Elba’s character, Ronald Deschain, better known as The Gunslinger, pursues McConaughey’s fabled Man In Black as they search for the Dark Tower. A nexus of all universes, the Dark Tower may help save their dying world. The movie, which opens on August 4, will draw from all eight King novels in the Dark Tower series, published between 1982 and 2004.

A genre-hybrid, the movie is a mythical fantasy western which sees Elba’s character The Gunslinger as a member of a clan of knightly warriors whose actions are dictated by a creed. Elba’s character recites part of the creed in the short teaser Tweeted by Elba, in which he can be heard saying, “I do not kill with my gun. I kill with my heart.”

Ahead of the full trailer debut on Wednesday, the pair of actors got into a Twitter exchange over just-released teaser footage. Staying in character, McConaughey teasingly kicked off the Twitter banter with Elba on Tuesday afternoon.
