Lena Dunham arrived at the Met Gala on Monday night in a showstopping gown, but things were less fabulous when she was later rushed to the hospital PageSix reported.
A source close to Dunham tells ET Canada she’s at home resting and doing well following the incident. “As you know she’s very public about her battles with endometriosis,” the source revealed to ET Canada.

Dunham, 30, was released from the hospital after completing a series of tests. For the actress, the night was going as planned. She had documented the evening on social media, of course, sharing an Instagram of her getting ready for the big night.
The “Girls” star has had a long battle with the disorder, which she has shared via her Lenny Letter newsletter. In April she revealed she had undergone her fifth surgery in which the doctors moved her ovaries away from her rectal wall to help with her chronic pain.

“My surgery went off without a hitch,” she wrote. “When I emerged, cotton-mouthed, [Dr. Randy Harris] told me something I hadn’t expected to hear, maybe ever: there was no endometriosis left. Between my surgeries and hormonal intervention, I was disease-free. That doesn’t mean it can never return, but for now, once my sutures have been removed and my bruises have changed from blue to yellow to green to gone, I will be healthy,” Dunham revealed.
On Thursday, Dunham revealed all about her health scare in an Instagram post. In the caption of the photo of Dunham in a hospital bed, the actress and writer shared that she suffered complications from her recent endometriosis surgery.
“Thank you for all the love and concern that’s been pouring in since Tuesday,” Dunham started the caption. “Although I’m much healthier than I was a year ago, complications arose from my most recent endometriosis surgery,” she confirmed.
Dunham did take the time to share her thoughts on the healthcare system in America at the moment. “When the healthcare of so many American women, especially our trans sisters, is at-risk- or already nonexistent – I am lucky to be in the position to seek help when I’m in pain,” she acknowledged. She wanted to remind those in a similar position as her to not forget their blessings and support Planned Parenthood and LGBTQ centres.
