Unsuspecting “Star Wars” superfans got the surprise of a lifetime from Mark Hamill.
As part of an Omaze charity campaign, Hamill surprised fans who thought they were performing reenactments from the “Star Wars” franchise celebrating the 40th anniversary of the film ahead of Star Wars Day on May 4.
“But what they don’t know is that I’ll be their surprise co-star,” Hamill explains in the video. “In other words, ‘It’s a trap’!”
Hamill sits on the sidelines as the superfans get ready for their big moment. “He looks like a Dark Side guy,” the Luke Skywalker actor quips before revealing himself to the fans.
“I had more lines with you than I do in the movies,” he jokes with one fan after he helps her reenact a scene from “Star Wars: The Force Awakens”.
In the ultimate reveal, Hamill dons a Darth Vader mask to act out the famous “I am your father” scene, ultimately surprising the fan in the best way possible.
The Omaze campaign is raising money for UNICEF and the Starlight Children’s Foundation. Until May 12, fans can donate to the charity campaign to be entered to win a flight to Los Angeles to meet Hamill for a private lunch and attend a special advance screening of “Star Wars: The Last Jedi”. Additional prizes include a trip to the set of the Han Solo spin-off movie, a visit to Skywalker Ranch and the chance to attend the premiere of “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” with the film’s cast.
