The romance between model Irina Shayk and soccer superstar Cristiano Ronaldo is over. The beautiful couple has officially split after five years of dating, US Weekly confirms.
The split was reportedly triggered after Shayk allegedly refused to attend the 60th birthday bash for Ronaldo’s mother this month. A rep for the model, however, has denied all rumours concerning Ronaldo’s family. “We can confirm Irina Shayk has ended her relationship to Cristiano Ronaldo of five years. She has been close with his family throughout the course of their relationship,” the statement read. “Any negative rumors with regards to Irina and the Ronaldo family are completely false, and have not been a factor in the cause of the split. Irina has no further comment at the time.”
Trouble between the former lovebirds most likely began in the summer of 2014 when Ronaldo and Shayk began attending public events alone. In July of 2014, Ronaldo was absent from Shayk’s Hercules premiere, and just last week, the Sports Illustrated stunner did not support her former boyfriend when he received the FIFA Ballon d’Or award.
The couple first met on the set of an Armani campaign in 2010. In 2014, Ronaldo and Shayk heated up the June cover of Vogue Spain.
