Former “General Hospital” star Antonio Sabato Jr.’s career is starting to look more like “House of Cards”.
The former Calvin Klein model is officially running for Congress against Rep. Julia Brownley, according to documents filed with the Federal Election Commission on Monday.
In recent years, Sabato Jr. starred on reality television shows “My Antonio” and “Dancing with the Stars”. He also debuted as a celebrity guest host for the Chippendales’ Las Vegas Revue last year.
The 45-year-old was a vocal support of current U.S. President Donald Trump on the campaign trail. Sabato Jr. even spoke on behalf of Trump at the Republican National Convention in 2016. He has accused Barack Obama of being Muslim and said he was blacklisted by Hollywood producers for his vocal support of the president.
“Being a Republican and with proximity to the White House and Republican leadership, he’s going to be able to get more done — being in the majority, with his notoriety, for the residents of the 26th [Congressional] District,” GOP strategist and Sabato Jr.’s fundraiser Charles Moran told the Los Angeles Times.
These days, Sabato Jr. has been starring on the reality television program “Fix It & Finish”.
