Lana Del Rey gave a recent interview to Elle UK, which a writer from SPIN found to be so hilarious that she created a whole other article consisting of excerpts from the “Lust for Life” singer’s interview sprinkled with sarcastic comments about what she says.
The tone of the piece, from writer Ana Gaca, is pretty clear from the title: “Here’s a Lana Del Rey Interview About Nothing.”
For example, Gaca writes, “If you’ve ever wondered how Lana Del Rey feels about her persona, and whether that persona wears blue jeans” in relation to the following quote from Del Rey: “I know that if I had more of a persona [before], I have less of one now. And I think it comes down to getting a little older. Maybe I needed a stronger look or something to lean on then. But I feel like it wouldn’t be hard for me today to play a mega show in jeans without rehearsing and still feel like I was coming from the right place.”
Gaca concludes by writing: “Queen of using lots of words to be vague. Lana… thank you.”
Del Rey served up a pithy Twitter DM response to the writer, who gleefully posted a screenshot: “Go f*** yourself.” (To be fair, Del Rey did not use a lot of words and was not at all vague.)
As for Gaca, she doesn’t appear to be too broken up about the diss.
“F*** yeah, give it to me,” she writes of Del Rey’s tweet, “this is Heaven, what I truly want.”
