‘X-Men’ Series Heading To TV

By Brent Furdyk.

As if television doesn’t already have enough comic-book heroes flying around, could it be that the X-Men will soon be heading to the small screen?

That’s the report from Variety, which claims Fox is in the early stages of developing a new live-action series based on the mega-hit film franchise about a group of super-powered mutants.

At this point, it’s not known which characters will inhabit the latest entry in the franchise, which already includes seven blockbuster movies and another one on the way, the upcoming X-Men: Apocalypse.

According to VarietyX-Men: Days of Future Past screenwriter Simon Kinberg told Collider that an X-Men series would be a natural for TV. “We’re still in this place of figuring out what the future of the franchise will be, but when you look at [Marvel’s Agents of] S.H.I.E.L.D. to some extent and what Marvel is doing now with Daredevil… it makes sense to tell some of these stories in TV partly because there’s just not enough screens to do all these characters, and also because the serialized format of comic books is better suited for TV,”; he said.
