Romance Gone Wrong: Man Sues Date For Texting During ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2’

According to the Austin American-Statesman, Brandon Vezmar is a man very much against texting during a movie.

He is suing a woman he went on a date with for $17.31 through a small claims court after she spent more time looking at her phone than “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2″; according to the plaintiff, this ruined his movie-going experience.

According to his claim, his date “activated her phone at least 10-20 times in 15 minutes to read and send text messages” during the screening. Now, he did ask her to stop and even asked if she’d leave the theatre to do so.

So, his date took him up on that offer, but she never returned. She left him at the theatre and since she drove the two of them to their date, he was left without a ride home. He called her to ask for his money back for the ticket but she refused to pay.

“It was kind of a first date from hell,” he said. “Texting is like one of my biggest pet peeves,” he continued to bash the bad date.

The date says the suit is crazy. “I had my phone low and I wasn’t bothering anybody,” she defended herself. “It wasn’t like constant texting.”

She also is seeking protection for her younger sister from Vezmar as he allegedly contacted her over the issue following the date.

“Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” director James Gunn even chimed in on the matter:

If your next date is bad, just remember, it could be worse.
