Reese Witherspoon On ‘Big Little Lies’ Season 2: ‘We Hope So’

Reese Witherspoon is spilling the tea on a possible second season of her hit HBO show, “Big Little Lies.”

While appearing on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” on Wednesday, the 41-year-old actress, who starred in and co-produced the popular mini-series featuring Nicole Kidman, Laura Dern, Shailene Woodley, Zoe Kravitz and more, opens up about the success of the show and her wish to explore the characters further.

“We hope so!” Witherspoon says when asked about a season two. “Nicole and I produced it as well so we’ve been talking to the writer, Liane Moriarty, who wrote the book, just about new ideas and what these characters can do. It seems like people just love the characters so hopefully we can go on and make another one.”

Acknowledging her mom in the audience, Betty Reese, Witherspoon adds that when she asked her mother about whether or not she enjoyed the first season of the show, her mom replied, “Yeah, there’s a lot of sex,” prompting the actress to share a hilarious screenshot to Instagram of their conversation.

During the daytime chat, the mother of three also details the sweet gift she received from her children on Mother’s Day. “We had a brunch at my house with my kids and my kids gave me a really cute picture of themselves,” she explains, noting that it was her four-year-old son, Tennessee, who hilariously chose to take the photo in front of their home bar because “Mom loves wine.”
