GoDaddy Pulls Super Bowl Ad After Puppy Controversy

By Brent Furdyk.

GoDaddy has decided to pull a controversial Super Bowl ad featuring a puppy named Buddy after public outcry that the ad promoted puppy mills.

The brouhaha erupted after the ad was previewed on a morning talk show, and GoDaddy CEO Blake Irving decided it would be best to axe the ad entirely.

“The responses were emotional and direct,”; said Irving in a statement. “Many people urged us not to run it.”;

Irving also revealed that Buddy enjoyed a happy ending of his own: “Rest assured, Buddy came to us from a reputable and loving breeder in California. He’s now part of the GoDaddy family as our Chief Companion Officer and he lives permanently with one of our longtime employees.
