Rachel Bilson Is Ready To Shake Things Up With Her ‘Cool’ New Role On ‘Nashville’

Rachel Bilson is ready to shake things up on “Nashville” as the fan-favourite series returns to W Network on June 1.

Joining the cast for the second-half of the series’ fifth season, “The O.C.” alum Bilson will take on the brand new role of Alyssa Greene, a marketing exec who is brought in to take Highway 65 Records to the next level.

There’s just one problem – Alyssa’s not exactly a fan of country music. For the driven professional it’s all about breaking through the old models and winning through disruption. She’s ready to prove she’ll do anything to avoid showing vulnerability in business and relationships.

For Bilson, Alyssa’s drive and straight-shooting style was a big draw, giving the actress a chance to play a unique character.

“I just thought she was a cool character,” Bilson says. “She’s a very strong woman. She’s kind of a bada**. It’s a lot of different layers and a character I’ve never played before.”

She’s definitely not afraid of playing a woman who may not be the most well-liked person around, especially when she starts to shake things up at Highway 65.

“I don’t think she has the warmest welcome, but it’s a new person being thrown into the mix who’s kind of telling them what they have to do. Things that maybe they creatively wouldn’t want to do,” Bilson says of Alyssa, who’s ready to get aggressive when it comes to record sales.

The actress promises fans will want to see what develops for her character, promising “interesting twists and turns” this season. And while Alyssa may be getting the cold shoulder on screen, Bilson has received nothing but love from her new co-stars.

“It’s been really great joining the cast of ‘Nashville’. I know that they’re in their fifth season and I know what that’s like, to go on a show that’s been going on for a while,” she says.
“Everyone’s been so nice and so welcoming. I feel right at home which is just really cool. It makes you feel good.”

Catch “Nashville” on W Network on June 1 at 9 p.m. ET/PT.
