Liam Payne Finally Drops Solo Single, ‘Strip That Down’

Liam Payne follows in the footsteps of his fellow One Direction members today with the official launch of his solo career.

Friday saw the release of his first song, “Strip That Down”, which, to put it mildly, has sent 1-D into hysterics thanks to one line in particular: “You know I used to be in 1D, now I’m out free. People want me for one thing, that’s not me,” he sings.

Another fan who couldn’t hide her excitement is Payne’s girlfriend, Cheryl, with whom the singer recently welcomed a healthy baby boy Bear.

The hip-hop song features a verse from Migos’s Quavo and makes Payne the fifth and final member of One Direction to branch out on his own. Harry Styles kicked off his own solo career earlier this year with the ballad, “Sign of the Times”.

Payne’s debut as a solo artist is the culmination of an entire year of work. He announced his latest project last summer via Twitter, revealing to fans that he signed a recording contract with Capitol Records. News of his musical debut, however, has been overshadowed in the past year by his romance and pregnancy with Cheryl Cole.
