The new season of “The Bachelorette” hasn’t even started and the long-running dating show is already generating controversy.

The problem had nothing to do with Bachelorette Rachel Lindsay, but originated in the contestant bio of a love-seeking firefighter named Bryce, who provided the following answer to a question asking him to describe his worst fear: “The chick is actually a dude,” he responded (that response has since been removed from the ABC bio), as reported by The Wrap.

ABC has released a statement distancing the network from Bryce’s remarks. “This comment does not reflect the views of ABC, Warner Horizon or bachelorette Rachel Lindsay,” said an ABC spokesperson in a statement provided to The Wrap. “We have removed it from”

Bryce’s comment may be gone, but it sure hasn’t been forgotten. In fact, a number of people took to Twitter to call him out for such a blatantly transphobic comment.
