Scott McGillivray is celebrating Canada’s 150th birthday by helping 150 deserving families.

The HGTV personality and home renovation guru is collaborating with Habitat For Humanity, and the Jimmy And Rosalynn Carter Work Project — run by former U.S. president Jimmy Carter — to help build 150 homes across Canada – in one week!

“It’s going to be a huge project,” McGillivray tells ET Canada. “It’s gonna take the whole country to make it happen, but it’s gonna be worth it.”

The “Home To Win” star will travel to Winnipeg, Manitoba, this summer to help build homes for deserving families in need. For McGillivray, the timing of the initiative to coincide with Canada’s 150th anniversary could not be more appropriate.

“I think this is a great representation of being Canadian,” he says of the project. “Community, being all inclusive, [and] being able to not only help yourself but help others as well.”

“If you can’t be patriotic now, when can you be patriotic?”
