Rapper Nas penned a scathing open letter at Mass Appeal to Donald Trump today, calling the U.S. President a racist.
“We all know a racist is in office,” Nas writes in the letter.
He goes on to say, “when you have the responsibility of being President and you carry on like that, you send a strong message to people outside of your group that they ain’t worth s**t.”
Nas says that his way of addressing the problems of politics is through his work.
“I observe what’s going on and that goes into my creative process,” Nas says. “The person himself, I’m not caught up with. I don’t even have time for Trump or Pence.
In the letter, Nas makes an appeal to look away from the news cycle and politicians. “My focus is on what’s happening with real people in their everyday lives,” he writes.
This is hardly the first time Nas has gotten political, and it’s not the first time he’s called out Trump in his work either. On Robin Thicke’s song, “Deep”, Nas called the President a “toupee-wearing liar.”
