Twitter Shades Train Lead Singer Pat Monahan After National Anthem Performance At NBA Finals Game

The NBA Finals got a powerful performance from Train frontman Pat Monahan on Thursday, but not everyone loved it.

The singer sang “The Star-Spangled Banner” at the NBA Finals game at Oracle Arena. Monahan performed before the Golden State Warriors faced the Cleveland Cavaliers in the championship round.

Unfortunately, Twitter was a little perplexed as to why he was chosen to perform and viewers shaded the singer.

Fans asked if this was really the best person they could get and made a lot of jokes about Train still being around:

While not everyone was in love with his performance, it was clear Monahan was really there to cheer on the Warriors. After his performance, the singer put on a Warriors hat and rooted for the team.

His support paid off. The team won the game 113-91 and currently lead the series.
