Usher was absent from the One Love Manchester benefit concert despite being scheduled to perform.
Attendees at Ariana Grande’s benefit concert may have been expecting Usher, but what they got instead of the legendary Liam Gallagher of Oasis. The R&B star was scheduled to perform between Justin Bieber and Katy Perry, but he never showed.
The 38-year-old entertainer posted a Facebook video letting the city know “My heart is with you Manchester.” Usher did not explain his absence, instead telling fans “I’m so sorry for all of your loss and all of your pain that you’ve gone through. My family and I send our heartfelt condolences to each and every one of you in this difficult time.”
“We need to love each other, we need to be good to each other,” he added. “Stay strong and united because only through that love can we help each other heal.”
It was later discovered that a father-son commitment prevented Usher from arrive in the U.K. on time. “I would have loved to be there but It was my son’s first day at Camp Kudzu, one of the few summer camps for kids living with diabetes,” Usher shared on Instagram. “This was an important day for him and for myself as a proud father.”

Furthermore, a source reportedly told TMZ that a U.K. publicist had initially announced that Usher and David Beckham would be “making appearances” at the concert. The publicist was allegedly referencing recorded video messages, however, and not live appearances.
Prior to the singer’s explanation on the Gram, some fans were disappointed while others were simply curious as to why Usher no-showed the benefit concert.
