Selena Gomez is all about moving forward and that’s exactly what she’s doing. In an interview with Sirius XM’s “Morning Mashup” the singer was only positive.
After being asked her thoughts on all the performances from last night’s One Love Manchester benefit concert, Gomez sang the praises of all the artists. But she specifically spoke of ex-boyfriend Justin Bieber and her friend Ariana Grande’s sets, “It was beautiful. I thought everyone did such a beautiful job,” she said. “It was so gorgeous. I love how she [Grande] ended it. I thought Justin did great, it was really beautiful.”
While neither Gomez or now boyfriend The Weeknd were at the benefit concert, the 24-year-old singer confessed she loves being backstage, “I love being supportive, like I’m just being there having somebody’s back, it feels good. I haven’t had that feeling in a while.”
After taking a break from the spotlight, Gomez is back with two tracks that are heating up the charts. Her latest single “Bad Liar” has been in the works for over a year, “We actually had the song for over a year. I took 90 days off and I’ve been in the studio for over a year. So I’ve had this song for a while.”
But her break, she says, has helped her realize that balance is key, “I haven’t really been all over the place lately and that’s kind of intentional,” she said. “I think it’s important to balance out where I am.
After her 90 days off, the “It Ain’t Me” singer admitted she hasn’t stopped making new music, in fact, she has recorded “over 20” new songs: “I didn’t really stop once I got out of the facility.”
While Gomez didn’t hint at a release date for a new album, she has promised it soon.
