At Hilarity for Charity’s Third Annual New York City Variety Show on Thursday, Amy Schumer opened up about her split from Ben Hanisch for the first time.
The pair split in May after a year and a half of dating. The two met on a dating app and moved in together soon after.
The comedian joked about how they wanted to impress other couples but it didn’t work out. “We went out with a couple who’s been together a long time and we were kind of trying to rush the intimacy. Like, I was trying to impress the girl and I was like, ‘Well he woke me up this morning with a fart,'” Schumer told the audience.
“And he just slowly turned to me and he goes, ‘Are we doing this?’ And I was like, ‘No, no, no, no, no, no, no. We’re not opening fire. Don’t tell me any of the disgusting s**t I’ve done. He was just like, ‘I want male confidence.'”
Schumer said she noticed Hanisch had something she called a “confidence mirror face”. According to her, this is something a lot of men have. “Maybe you’ve seen your man do this, where he’s like a normal guy, kind of nice, and then he looks in the mirror and he becomes like a superhero and James Dean,” Schumer said. “You’re like, ‘Dude, you work in software.’ Like, ‘Relax, Clint Eastwood.'”
This realization made the “Trainwreck” star check her own mirror face. “I’ll just kind of make a defeated face and it’s just kind of a sweet little, ‘Oops! Hand I was dealt!'” she said.
Things are looking up for her, though, as she has a new man in her life. “I’m dating this new dude. He’s awesome. He’s like Stephen Hawking, sexually,” she joked.
