Leave it to the muppets of “Sesame Street” to put an adorable spin on the Netflix drama “Orange Is The New Black”.
The PBS kids show has released a G-rated parody of the prison drama, titled “Orange Is The New Snack”, which perfectly captures the spirit of every character we’ve grown to love!
Taking place at Litchfield Academy—instead of Penitentiary— the scene follows Piper Snackman (Piper Chapman), Googly Eyes (Crazy Eyes), and their other schoolmates (including Morello and Red) as they discuss the benefits of healthy snacking after Snackman smuggles in three oranges while being threatened with time in the S.H.U.
“The girls at school/ The girls at school/ Munch, munch, munch till your tummy’s full/ The cookies are baked/ It’s time to feed/ But healthy foods are what we need,” a voice sings to the tune of Regina Spektor’s original theme song, “You’ve Got Time”.
The parody isn’t the first TV show that “Sesame Street” has magically transformed — “Mad Men”, “True Blood”, “Game of Thrones” and “Boardwalk Empire” have also received the kid-friendly treatment.
