‘America’s Got Talent’ Contestant Dead At 29

An incredible America’s Got Talent season 12 contestant is dead just weeks before getting his chance in the spotlight.

Dr. Brandon Rogers, who wowed audiences with his amazing singing voice, was involved in a car accident in Maryland on Saturday, ET has learned. He was taken to the hospital, where he died on Sunday. He was 29 years old.

Funeral arrangements are currently being made. A spokesperson from “America’s Got Talent” said “we are deeply saddened by the tragic passing of Dr. Brandon Rogers, who graced the ‘America’s Got Talent’ stage as a contestant,” in a statement obtained by ET Canada. “Our thoughts are with his family.”

“It’s a very difficult time. What we want people to remember most is his love of God and how much he touched others,” a family member tells ET. “His ability to sing was a gift. He was funny and genuine and everyone loved him. What he did was inspire others because of his love for God.”

According to TMZAGT producers have not made a decision on whether or not to run Rogers’ episode, which is scheduled to air next month. Producers reportedly discovered Rogers when they saw an Instagram video of him singing Boyz II Men’s “On Bended Knee.”

Before his death, Rogers actually got a chance to perform with his singing idols. Boyz II Men commented on the tragic news on Instagram on Sunday with a video of them singing “I’ll Make Love to You” with Rogers.

“Today our hearts are deeply saddened to learn about the sudden death of Dr. Brandon Rogers,” the band wrote. “A few months back we brought this young man out to the Mirage Hotel in Las Vegas to perform with us. He was great all 3 nights! Just a genuinely nice person and a really good singer! Gone too young and gone too soon.”

“It hurts to know that the world will never have a chance to witness what his impact on the world could have been as a doctor and even on the music world,” the message continues. “A great spirit and a great voice. Even for the little time we knew you you will be sorely missed. May God Bless, keep and comfort your family in this difficult time.”
