Why watch a “Dodgeball” sequel when you can be the “Dodgeball” sequel?
The posse over at Omaze are launching an exciting new charity campaign that reunites characters of the fan-favourite comedy flick “Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story”.
Ben Stiller, 51, reprises his role as the macho White Goodman, provoking fans to test their mettle against him. Before he can get too deep in his pitch, however, Goodman is interrupted by Vince Vaughn’s Peter LaFleur, flanked by actor Justin Long and actress Christine Taylor.
Both Stiller and Vaughn are enlisting players to their respective dodgeball teams by asking fans to pick a side and sign up on Omaze’s website: omaze.com/globo or omaze.com/joes. The winner of the charity event earns a chance to play dodgeball with Stiller himself!
Stiller has been active on social media, addressing celebs and athletes, challenging them to choose a side.
EW sat down with the “Zoolander” star to see what it was like for Stiller to slip back into those sick threads. “It was really strange and fun,” he said. “I didn’t know what it would be like, because I was away from it for so long and I never really thought there would be any reason to do the character again.”
“But then when this opportunity came up, especially talking to Omaze and what good ideas for fundraising there would be, over the years we’ve been aware of people who are fans of the movie and their connection with it, which I’ve appreciated,” he continued. “It’s fun to connect with people on something like that — like at Halloween, I see people dressed up as the movie and things like that.”
The money raised from the Omaze campaign will go to the Stiller Foundation, which supports education initiatives for children around the world.
