Patton Oswalt Hits Red Carpet Holding Hands With Actress Meredith Salenger

Patton Oswalt brought a date to the Baby Driver premiere on Wednesday night in New York City.

The 48-year-old comedian posed on the red carpet with Meredith Salenger. Oswalt — dressed in an all-blue outfit — looked happy while holding hands with the 47-year-old actress, who was dressed in a floral skirt, leather jacket, black blouse and strappy heels.

A rep for Salenger confirmed that two are in fact dating, telling ET, “She is in love. They met not too long ago through their mutual friend, Martha Plimpton.”

While at the premiere, Salenger also shared a selfie on Twitter of herself and Oswalt inside the event. She also retweeted fans’ excitement that they showed up together. “Patton Oswalt is hanging with my childhood crush,” one Twitter user reacted to The Journey of Natty Gann star’s night out with Oswalt. “This is a cool day. Very cool. Love to see him smiling!”

“Natty Gann is a Patton fan!” another commenter wrote. “My childhood and cynical adulthood has intersected!”

In April 2016, Oswalt’s wife, Michelle E. McNamara, died suddenly and unexpectedly in her sleep due to a combination of prescription drugs and an undiagnosed heart condition. On the one-year anniversary of McNamara’s death, the King of Queens star penned a tribute to his late spouse.

“I’m one year into this new life — one I never imagined,” he wrote. “I can imagine some pretty pessimistic and dark contingencies, some stomach-freezing ‘what-ifs.’ But not this one. This one had such a flat, un-poetic immediacy. The world gazes at you like a hunger but indifferent reptile when you’re widowed.”

Oswalt — who is now raising his and McNamara’s daughter, Alice — also revealed in his open letter that he had removed his wedding ring and put it in the wooden trinket box along with love notes and other keepsakes that bring back happy memories. “Michelle’s gone, but she wasn’t the kind of soul that disappears or dies out,” he declared.

At last year’s Emmys, Oswalt dedicated his win to McNamara. Here’s a look at his heartfelt speech:
