UPDATE – Monday, February 23, 8:40pm ET: The LAFD has confirmed paramedics responded to a medical call at the Bel-Air home of Leonard Nimoy at 7:31 a.m. last Thursday. To date, representatives for the Star Trek actor have not commented on his current health.
Famed actor Leonard Nimoy has reportedly been rushed to the hospital after experiencing severe chest pains.
According to TMZ, the original Star Trek franchise icon was transported to UCLA Medical Center last Thursday.
The 83-year-old actor has been seeking hospital treatment multiple times in the last few months. Nimoy announced in 2014 that he was suffering from Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease and blames the illness on a smoking habit which existed early in his life.
Most recently the actor appeared in the rebooted Star Trek franchise films in 2009 and 2013.
Nimoy’s longtime Star Trek co-star, William Shatner, offered words of support on Twitter.
I am uplifted by the show of love & caring tweeted to my dear friend @TheRealNimoy. I join the chorus of well wishers for a quick recovery!
