Jon Snow’s Real Name Revealed On Reddit, And It’s A ‘Game Of Thrones’ Game-Changer

If the claims of a Reddit post are to be believed, the upcoming season of “Game of Thrones” will reveal the real name of Jon Snow, and it promises to be a game-changer.

The Reddit post — which is allegedly based on an interview with actor Isaac Hempstead Wright (who plays psychic “warg” Bram Stark) that will be featured in an upcoming issue of Empire — confirms a long-raging fan theory about Jon Snow’s true parentage.

According to The Independent, the Reddit post quotes from the interview, with Hempstead Wright dropping the bombshell.

“As we saw in the last episode of season 6, Bran’s psychic time-travelling ‘greensight’ revealed the true nature of Jon’s birth heritage and his real name: Jaehaerys Targaryen,” the actor allegedly says in the interview.

This would seemingly confirm a short scene from the season six finale, a flashback (as experienced psychically by Bran) shows the sister of Ned Stark about to die while giving birth, and whispers an inaudible name that lip-reading viewers claimed was “Jaehaerys.”

For fans of the HBO hit, the implications are pretty staggering. This would make Jon, presumed to be the bastard offspring of Ned Stark, the son of Lyanna Stark and Rhaegar Targaryen, older brother of Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke).

Jon — a.k.a. Jaehaerys — would thus be the nephew of Daenerys, and aligns with the long-simmering fan theory that he’s legendary “Prince That Was Promised” in George R.R. Martin’s epic book series.

We’ll find out for sure when the next issue of Empire is released, and when “Game of Thrones” returns with its seventh season on Sunday, July 16.
