DJ Khaled Alleges ‘Sabotage’ After Being Booed Offstage At Electric Daisy Carnival: ‘They Don’t Want Us To Win’

DJ Khaled was among the headliners at this year’s Electric Daisy Carnival — from June 16-18 in Las Vegas — but things didn’t go so well when he took to the stage at the annual EDM show only to have his performance met with a resounding chorus of boos.

Following a set that was plagued with technical glitches and sound problems, reports Stereogum, the crowd grew restless and began chanting for Yellow Claw, the DJ who was scheduled to perform following DJ Khaled. You can watch the hostility unfold in this crowd-shot video that was posted to Twitter:

Was his unpopularity with the audience simply a case of his particular style of music not going over with an EDM crowd? Perhaps, but that’s not the way DJ Khaled saw it, claiming his sound was deliberately sabotaged — because “they” didn’t want to see him perform at an EDM show.

In fact, DJ Khaled took to Instagram to claim that “they cut my time short and they had me back stage for a hour and half and the sound kept breaking,” insisting he felt he owed it to his fans to get out onstage despite the sound issues.

In a subsequent tweet, DJ Khaled complained that “they🚷 tried to sabotage my sound so many times THEY could not get the sound right on my set and i still stood on stage wit no sound and when they got the sound to work they want cut my set short but I still rep for my people anyone else would walk off stage,” he wrote, adding: “THEY🚷 DONT WANT US TO WIN SO WE WIN MORE FOR THERE HEAD TOP!!!”

One person who’s not buying Khaled’s explanation is EDM star Deadmau5, who took to Twitter to serve up a heaping plate of mockery. Asked by one Twitter user to “rate [Khaled’s] performance, Deadmau5 quipped: “1. who the f**k are all those people on the stage. 2. what the f**k is he doing? 3. EDC. 4. lol.”

And the comments got even more scathing after that;
