Longtime viewers of “The Daily Show” are well aware of Jessica Williams, who served as a correspondent on the political comedy series until her departure in January 2016, and now Williams is about to be seen on a far bigger stage as star of the upcoming Netflix movie “The Incredible Jessica James”.
The rom-com made a well-received debut at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year, and Netflix has just released the first teaser trailer for the film, which was directed by Jim Strouse.
Williams stars as the titular Jessica James, described in the Netflix synopsis as “a young, aspiring playwright in New York City who is struggling to get over a recent breakup. She is forced to go on a date with the recently divorced Boone, played by Chris O’Dowd (‘Bridesmaids’) and the unlikely duo discover how to make it through the tough times in a social media obsessed post-relationship universe.”
Other stars in the new flick include Lakeith Stanfield (FX’s “Atlanta”, “Straight Outta Compton”) and Noël Wells (Netflix’s “Master of None”).
“The Incredible Jessica James” premieres on Friday, July 28.
